Dunedin Cemetery & Greenbriar Estates
The historic Dunedin Cemetery was home to a thriving population of peafowl—around 50–125 birds—since the late 1930’s
Nearby residents in the Greenbriar Estates subdivision still often encounter peacocks wandering their yards and streets
More Sightings Around Michigan Avenue
Peacocks have also been spotted along Michigan Avenue and CR 1 in Dunedin especially Spanish Manor and Barcelona, Brady Dr area.
Why Are They Here?
These peafowl trace back to peacock farms in the 1920s–1930s, where birds were raised for ornamental feathers. As farming operations ceased during the Great Depression, many birds were released or escaped, eventually establishing wild flocks in Dunedin neighborhoods
