Nestled just north of downtown Dunedin (at 1900 San Mateo Dr) in the Historic District, Hammock Park is a 98-acre natural oasis rich with century-old hardwoods, meandering boardwalks, and abundant wildlife. Whether you’re seeking solitude in nature, family-friendly fun, or a peaceful retreat, this park has it all.

A Walk Through Time: Trails & Boardwalks
Hammock Park offers more than 5 miles of winding trails—like Fern, Skinner, Grant, Palm, Kettles, Osprey, Cedar, and Sugarberry—through lush low hardwood hammocks. These ancient forests boast massive Sweet bay and hardwood trees, many over a century old, reaching up to 90 feet tall and 3 feet in diameter.

Family Fun & Amenities
Kids love the unique tree-house themed playground, featuring three slides, spider-net climbers, a leaf-and-wood ladder, swings, and benches for parents. Convenient restrooms and picnic pavilions (five available for reservation) make it ideal for family gatherings.

Wildlife & Nature Spotting
You may encounter native birds—or even owls and butterflies—as you explore. A dedicated “Help Us Keep It Clean” program by a local Girl Scout and volunteers encourages visitors to help preserve the park’s beauty by collecting litter.

History & Conservation
Originally known as the “Kerr Tract,” the city acquired the forest in 1965.

Boundaries match an 1846 survey referring to it simply as a “hammock.”
Expanded in 2007 and 2016 to protect additional acreage.

Managed by the Friends of the Hammock since 1994, this team combats invasive species, restores native vegetation, and maintains trails.
